Why we built GiftSnitch
Every year, the same thing happened. Birthday season would arrive, and the scramble would begin. How much did we spend on the oldest last year? Did anyone already buy that toy? Is Grandma getting the same book we are?
The spreadsheet worked for about two weeks before it got abandoned. The group chat was worse — gift ideas buried under 50 messages about what time dinner starts. And the guilt of accidentally spending more on one child than another? That stuck around long after the wrapping paper was thrown away.
GiftSnitch started as a simple question: what if there was one place where our whole family could track gifts, share wishlists, and see per-child spending in real time? No spreadsheets to maintain, no group chat archaeology, no surprises on Christmas morning when two people show up with the same Lego set.
That is what we built. And now we are sharing it with families who feel the same way.
